Update from Mount Doom, NZ

Focus off the football for a minute and we take a few moments out to see what Hi There front man Gary Taylor is doing in his spare time in the land of the Kiwi. Mount Doom's looking good.
Gary should be back in the UK ready for game one or two of the new 11 a side season.

Hi There Consider Teletext

Hi There United are considering advertising on Teletext as the new 11 a side season approaches fast. With the squad still without a recognised shot stopper. For all the good form in the 5 a side leagues Hi There fans are beginning to become restless and worried by the lack of a goalkeeper in the squad. Always sensitive to fan opinion, an un-named member of the Hi There backroom staff had the idea to advertise for a "man between the sticks" on teletext. A statement from current team representative Peter Lambert read "We would like to re-assure fans that the goalkeeping situation is being looked into currently by our scouts, we hope to make an announcement in the near future."

HiThereUnited.blogspot.com would like to try and help: Anyone who would like a goalkeeping trial please make contact via e-mail at: mailto:Mcp1981@gmail.com

Match Preview – Natural Born Finishers FC (17th October 2005)

5-Aside League @ Trojans - Division 1

Tonight Hi There are up against Natural Born Finishers FC in the first Monday night 5-a-side league match up of the new DIVISION ONE season (KickOff 8.35pm, Pitch3). Hi There hope to get off to a good start in the league against the only team to best United last season. Natural Born Finishers were promoted with United and inflicted a 3-1 reverse on the lads.

Team News: For the first game of the division one season Hi There will be without Matt Payne who is out with a recurring ankle injury, incurred in a freak "getting up of a sofa" accident. With Gary Taylor still on the other side of the world (almost literally I'm reliably informed by Pete Lambert), Hi There have drafted in new blood in the form of Adam Thompson, who is likely to cover between the sticks. A starting line up will be chosen from (positions TBC):
Stuart Meredith,
Greg Nolan,
James Mason,
Oli Gunnar Knight,
Pete Lambert,
Matt Payne,
Tom O’Toole,
Adam Thompson

Any supporters travelling to the game should be advised to arrive promptly and sing their hearts out!

Good Luck for the game,
C'mon United.

Match Preview – Colclough FC (10th October 2005)

5-Aside League @ Trojans

Tonight Hi There are up against frankly rubbish named “un-pun-able” Colclough FC in the seventh (and final!) Monday night 5-a-side league match up of the season (KickOff 9.55pm, Pitch1). If Hi There win or draw this game, the title is secured - with second place Bitterne Park Old Boys 3 pts behind and facing Natural Born Finishers.

Team News: Last weeks game should be a blip, as Hi There travel tonight with a full squad. With Tom O’Toole returning from a GRI , and Matt Payne available a starting line up will be chosen from (positions TBC):
Stuart Meredith,
Greg Nolan,
James Mason,
Oli Gunnar Knight,
Pete Lambert,
Matt Payne,
Tom O’Toole,
Gary Savage

Any supporters travelling to the game should be advised to arrive promptly and sing their hearts out - remember the Hi There United bobble hat knitting competition is still open - a prize to the best one worn on a matchday!

Good Luck for the game, C'mon United.

Match Report – Natural Born Finishers

3rd October 2005, 9.15pm: Hi There United vs Natural Born Finishers FC (Trojans, pitch 1)

Hi There United's winning form and bid to go a whole season unbeaten was finished by Natural Born Finishers tonight. An under strength Hi There (without Tom O'Toole, Matt Payne and Mount Doom? bound Gary Taylor) came off the rails in a 3-1 defeat, a good positive coming away from the game was a goal from Greg Nolan (below).

Hi There hope to clinch the title next week against Colclough FC.

Match Preview – Natural Born Finishers FC (3rd October 2005)

5-Aside League @ Trojans

Tonight Hi There are up against Natural Born Finishers in the sixth (and penultimate) Monday night 5-a-side league match up of the season (KickOff 9.15pm, Pitch1). Currently Finishers sit fourth in the table, with a total of nine points.

Team News: Last weeks game marked the seasons final performance from Gary Taylor, Hi There hope Pete Lambert can continue in his rich vein of scoring form to soften the blow. With Tom O’Toole out with a GRI (girlfriend related injury) and Matt Payne doubtful for the clash, a starting line up will be chosen from (positions TBC):

Stuart Meredith, Greg Nolan, James Mason, Oli Gunnar Knight, Pete Lambert,
Gary Savage

Any supporters travelling to the game should be advised to arrive promptly and sing their hearts out - remember there's a chill in the air and to wrap up warm. Good Luck for the game, C'mon United.
